The purpose of the web site is to make it easier for citizens to contact their elected officials, both local and federal, on issues of great concern to them. We think now, more than ever before, that citizens need to get involved in the politics of our nation. Our elected officials need to know that we are concerned about issues and that we hope that our interests are considered in their deliberation.
This is not a democrat or republican, liberal or conservative, web site. It is for all citizens to make their viewpoints known to officials. That said, there is a link called "PC's Issues" which reflects issues that we, the editors, are concerned about. On the other hand, we have a link called "User's Issues" which you can e-mail us and we will hope to accommodate you. Please write a summary of your issue, add the resolution number(s) if you can, and advise the reader of any legislative deadlines that might be imposed.
Keep in mind that this is a work in progress. Currently, we only have one State Legislature database on the web site. We will be adding more states as time goes by. We have databases for the U.S. Congress elected officials and a listing of U.S. Congressional Committees. Each of these files contain the names of elected officials, e-mail addresses, web sites, phone and fax numbers.
You will note, when accessing the databases, the many of our elected officials do not publish their e-mail addresses. Keep in mind that these addresses are furnished to our elected officials by our government. We wonder why the addresses are not published for our benefit. Are they only made available to donors or lobbyists. The elected officials may say that you can contact them thru their web sites. First, the web sites generally will only permit the e-mail to be sent if you put in the proper zip code -- one that reflects you're being a constituent. Our problem with this is that the issues they vote on are of concern to all citizens of the United States and not just those within their zip codes. We are paying for them to being able to function as a Senator or Congressman and we deserve the right to be heard on all issues. Secondly, they may say you can call or e-mail. They keep making it inconvenient for you to let your voice be heard. Let them know how you feel .. demand that their e-mail addresses be published.
For suggestions for this web site or additions to the "User Issues" please e-mail us.
